Proposition : to forbid the hiking of the helmsman, or to limit it until that the helmsman's knees would not go over the sheerline.
Argumentation : hiking is an athletic posture which is of course not to the taste of the helmsmen of sixty years and more... If this outside position could be relatively confortable in the breeze thanks to the heel angle, this could be dangerous in the medium in the fleet where many unexpected passin and crossings happen.
This posture seems as well hardly compatible with the spirit of the Classics.

I fully agree, but you should put your comments in english..., Ambroise
safety is at the discretion of the skipper, not the class organisation. No one obliges you to hike as a skipper. I don't (untill the crew gets me there!). Can imaging the following protest: I saw the skipper of FRA.. hinking out 2 centimeter more than is allowed!
Question to Seb: what would be the speed difference between an 80 kg skipper hiking or not hiking (outch!)
I have received different notes remembering that this topics was already voted some years ago, it will not be then submitted to vote again in San Remo 2007.
The helsman, at see, is responsable for the boat and his crew, in every sailing conditions;
this boats can sink, and for all this resons, I believe that the most confortable position of the helmsman can give the best reactions conditions, to sail save.
So even when we are older we can compete longher with the youngest, in a limited position.
